David Vint - Independent Dance Instructor
David and Amy Vint first met on a disco dance floor at the old Holiday House in Monroeville in 1980. It was Love at First Dance. They married in 1983 and have been dancing and teaching dance together ever since. When they first met, David owned and operated “The Step Above Ballroom Dance Studio” in the Monroeville Garden City area. He also taught Dance at Duquesne University, Boyce Campus Community College and Seton Hill University. After closing his main studio, he went to work for Arthur Murray Dance Studios. In addition to teaching dance, David is a Professional Disc Jockey and Masters of Ceremonies for special events and specializes in Wedding Receptions and Ballroom Dance Events.
Amy Blackburn-Vint has been dancing for 30 years and teaching with David for 28 of those years. Amy served as the Head Coach of Cheerleading at Seton Hill University in Greensburg, Pa. for the 2004-2007 seasons. Amy is also a certified Zumba Fitness Instructor and has three classes per week in the Greensburg area. When she isn't dancing she keeps busy at her fulltime day job as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist at the Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital Campus in Greensburg.
Together David and Amy teach for various adult education dance programs including Penn Trafford Adult Education and Hempfield Recreation Department. David and Amy teach Private Dance Lessons and Group Classes in Ballroom, Salsa, Swing and Latin at the “The Crystal Ballroom” in Herminie several nights a week. They also host monthly Ballroom Dances at the hall which draw upwards of 70 dancers for an evening of social dancing.
Dave and Amy competed at the Mid Atlantic Dance Jams, in the DC area, in 2008 where they placed third in the Master’s Division doing a “Classic Hustle” dance routine.
