Doug Oster is the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s “Backyard Gardener” and co-host of the popular radio show, “The Organic Gardeners”, on KDKA radio every Sunday morning. He also appears every Thursday on KDKA-TV’s ‘Pittsburgh Today Live’ between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. and is a regular guest on the ‘Morning Living’ show for Martha Stewart Radio on Sirius XM.

Oster works as producer, writer and on-air talent for WQED-TV’s ‘OnQ’ program and fills the same role for NPR affiliate WYEP radio.

He hosted, produced and wrote the one hour special, “The Gardens of Pennsylvania”, for PBS, which won the Emmy for Outstanding Documentary in 2009.

Oster writes a nationally syndicated herb/cooking column for the ‘LA Times Syndicate’. He’s a contributor to ‘Pittsburgh Magazine’, ‘Table Magazine’ and ‘The Heirloom Gardener’.

He just released his third book, Tomatoes, Garlic and Basil, and co-authored two others, Grow Organic and A Gardener’s Journal.

Oster’s most satisfying accomplishment though, was founding ‘Cultivating Success’, a garden program for foster and adoptive children. The program operates in two counties near Pittsburgh.
